Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are serious conditions and can lead to the same complications. The first steps to staying healthy with diabetes are:

  • Eating according to a healthy meal plan
  • Increasing your physical activity
  • Learning as much as possible about diabetes

Muskoka Algonquin Health Care Diabetes Centres offer the following services:

- registered dietitians, registered nurses and  registered social worker (most are certified diabetes educators)

 - group education and individual visits for:

  • adults new to diabetes
  • refresher programs
  • starting insulin
  • insulin pumps
  • pregnancy and diabetes
  • education awareness events
  • education and training for health care professionals and community service groups

All services are provided at no cost to client

The Diabetes Centres are funded through the Northern Diabetes Health Network. Our Mission is to provide accessible and comprehensive diabetes care and education services to the community as an integral part of Muskoka Algonquin Health Care.
